Sun Damage/Sun Spots in Tampa, FL
Living in the beautiful state of Florida, sun damage is a reality many of us have to deal with at some point. Fortunately, sun spots and other forms of sun damage can be treated with a variety of non-invasive treatment options. At ÉLAN Aesthetics, we offer sun damage treatments to patients living in Clearwater, St. Pete, Tampa and the surrounding areas of Florida.
How are Sun Damage and Sun Spots Treated?
Sun damage is primarily caused by increased melanin in the skin, or an increase in skin pigmentation caused by the sun’s UV rays. At ÉLAN Aesthetics, we use laser treatments to address sun damage and sun spots. Using laser energy, we can target and heat skin pigments. This process breaks up the excess pigmentation in the skin, causing sun damage to fade and restoring a more even skin tone.
What Laser Treatments are Used for Sun Damage and Sun Spots?
ÉLAN Aesthetics specializes in a number of laser treatments, and we may recommend the following techniques for addressing sun damage or sun spots:
What is the Sun Damage and Sun Spot Treatment Like?
During laser treatments for sun damage and sun spots, no anesthetic is needed but a topical numbing cream is given to make clients more comfortable. As treatment begins, laser energy will be delivered to the treatment area, which are absorbed by pigments in the skin. Many patients liken this sensation to the feeling of a rubber band snapping on the skin, but find the treatment to be tolerable. Treatment typically takes about 30 minutes to complete.
What Can I Expect After My Sun Damage and Sun Spot Treatment?
After your sun damage and sun spot treatment, you can expect some redness and sensitivity in the skin, which will feel similar to a sunburn for the first 24 hours. Depending on the treatment, some clients will experience some tightness for another 24 hours and then a gentle rolling peel over the next several days, but you can return to normal activities. However, these side effects are minor and typically fade within a few hours to a few days, depending on the type of laser treatment administered. For IPL and Tetra CoolPeel treatments there is minimal downtime required, and you will be able to return to your normal activities fairly quickly following your appointment. For the deep ablative Tetra CO2 Treatment, five to seven days of downtime with moderate redness and swelling should be expected. One of our medical professionals will go over all specifics with you following your appointment, as well as aftercare instructions.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Sun Damage and Sun Spot Treatment?
Immediately following your treatment, you may notice that sun damage and sun spots darken. However, rest assured that this is a normal part of the treatment process. The targeted pigmentation will fade in the weeks following treatment, leaving you with a clearer and more even skin tone. Keep in mind that multiple treatment sessions may be needed for optimal results depending on the type of laser treatment administered.
How Much Does Sun Damage Treatment Cost?
The cost of sun damage treatments will vary depending on the type of laser, the size of the treatment area, and the number of treatment sessions that are necessary. We will be happy to provide you with a more detailed estimate of your treatment cost and answer any questions you may have during your complimentary consultation. We also provide financing options through CareCredit® for your comfort and convenience.
